Does any one know the routine or mandate (academic/legal) for operative as the Romanian translator in England please?
My friend, she is smooth in both languages, nonetheless has worked in England for 10 years in an ‘un-skilled’ profession. She is essentially really means with languages as well as wishes to serve herself though does not have any British qualifications.

There are recognised interpreting qualifications such as Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) which most public service agencies will require interpreters they engage to have.
You dont say where in England your friend lives, but the agency for the East of England is CINTRA:http://www.colc.co.uk/cambridge/cintra/a…
and I imagine there are similar agencies elsewhere, although many interpreters work on their own.

There are several agencies who provide interpreters/translators for agencies such as the police, social services and the NHS. Most staff are paid on an hourly basis and work as and when required.
Qualifications as such are not needed, but a CRB check is required before they can do certain types of work.
If I can suggest one, ITL in Gateshead may be able to point you in the right direction.

I have done such job for 10 years.
The best agencies to work for are Home office, NHS, police, Courts.
There will be strict, difficult exams to be passed and most agencies will employ you if you have Brit Nationality.
However, due to the Ro joining the EU there is less and less need for interpreter in that language and I would not advice anyone to have this job as the only job – its unpredictible, and no work is guaranteed. And its all very competitive. Noroc si toate cele bune.
