i dont think they are allowed to, since the translator would not be on the roster.

A lot of the Oriental players in baseball speak Spanish as a second language for some reason, so a lot of the times, one of the Spanish speakers come in also.

No. When Dice-k was making his start, they were talking about how jason varitek kept a list of key word translations tucked in his sleeve when he came out to the mound to talk to him. The skipper probably did the same. And that is probably the most efficient way of doing it without breaking tradition.

Not to talk about pitching in the game. They are allowed to bring in a translator in regard to a possible injury situation. Just like a trainer would check out any players possible injury during them game, on the field. They basically just translate the trainers questions, and the players response etc. to assure the health and safety of the player. Umpire would normally be right there with them. That is the only way I have seen a translator used on the field during a game.
